Keanu Reeves Stars As the Worst Guy Ever in ‘Outcome’

It’s no secret that Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors. He’s just your all-round good guy who everybody seems to like. He’s never really involved in controversy; he just minds his own business and lives his life like a regular dude.

And that’s precisely why Apple TV’s upcoming dark comedy film Outcome feels like a brave social experiment. It takes the super likeable Reeves and makes him the absolute worst guy ever.

A bizarre apology tour

The first trailer for the film playfully taps into that premise. Reeves plays Reef Hawk, a once-adored Hollywood star whose carefully polished image is in jeapordy thanks to a mysterious blackmail video. It threatens to completely annihilate his reputation.

What you get afterwards isn’t a traditional redemption arc. With some guidance from his questionable crisis lawyer Ira, played by Jonah Hill (who also directs the film), Reef sets out on a bizarre apology tour.

The goal of this journey is to track down everyone he’s ever wronged, say sorry, and hopefully figure out who hates him enough to pull the trigger on the blackmail video.

As he reconnects with old acquaintances, his terrible past (questionable decisions, sobriety or the lack thereof, buried secrets, etc) begins to resurface. But along the way, he gets moral support from his two best friends, played by Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer.

According to Hill, Outcome is “a metaphor for what we all go through, living on social media. Social media has made us obsessed [with] what people we don’t know think of us, instead of caring about what the people who know us best think of us.”

The film also stars Susan Lucci, Laverne Cox, David Spade, Martin Scorsese, Atsuko Okatsuka, Roy Wood, Jr., Welker White, Kaia Gerber, and Ivy Wolk.

Outcome premieres on Apple TV on 10 April 2026.
