Malaysia is home to some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, world-class cuisine, and diverse flora and fauna. But if there’s one cultural export we take for granted, it’s the King of the Road; the Perodua Myvi.

The car’s latest feature in pop culture is in the aptly titled single ‘Myvi’, recently released by Mandopop sensation YoungCaptain.

From getting hit by a Myvi to falling in love

In the ‘Myvi’ music video, YoungCaptain plays a delivery rider for ‘Goob’ (you’ll probably notice the uncanny resemblance to another brand).

Despite not being from Malaysia, it’s impressive how accurate his look is. From the arm sleeves to the kapcai, it’s pretty clear the artist has some affinity towards Malaysia in one way or another. As he goes about his day, riding his motorcycle, he suddenly gets hit by none other than a Myvi.

He’s quite literally tossed in the air, before falling to the ground and playing it cool by doing a couple of push-ups. A bit strange (and rather impressive considering he just got hit by a car), but why does he do it? To impress the woman that hit him, of course.

After making sure he’s okay, the remorseful woman hands him her details, probably for insurance purposes and whatnot. But it seems it’s love at first sight for YoungCaptain, who later shows up at the woman’s house, admiring her red Myvi parked out front.

The woman catches him in the act, but in a surprising turn of events, she hands him her car keys. Being the lovestruck delivery rider he is, YoungCaptain imagines his future with her, their imaginary child, and of course, their Myvi.

He then drives off, taking the Myvi to a workshop to have it heavily modified.

The Myvi is given a new pink paintjob, and it also seems like he swapped out the Perodua logo with a Daihatsu badge (the car enthusiasts among you might know the Myvi was initially a rebadged Daihatsu Boon). After all the painstaking work, YoungCaptain returns to the woman with her ‘new’ Myvi.

They’re then seen driving on a long highway, eventually flying off into the clouds (literally).
