Sharks have had a bad rep ever since Jaws, the classic monster film by Steven Spielberg, came out in 1975. The movie’s awesome, but if you say that it’s a good depiction of the animal to a wildlife expert, they might just feed you to one.

Wildlife expert Forrest Galante said that “great white sharks have no interest in eating people,” and in cases where that happens, the animal is either provoked or it’s a case of misidentification because of dirty water.

However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun being a shark. Maneater is an open world ‘shaRkPG’ (RPG) where you get to play as a shark on a mission to eat, explore and evolve your way up to the top of the food chain.

The game’s trailer shows a bunch of crazy stuff you can do like emitting a shockwave, spinning in the air to avoid bullets from shark hunters and of course, biting and ripping s**t apart with those massive teeth.

Don’t expect any groundbreaking storyline in the game, but it does look super fun. With ocean pollution rapidly destroying coral reefs and aquatic life the world over, whether you’re an animal lover or not, this might just be the revenge story-game that we all need.

Maneater will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox 1 and PC on 22 May 2020 and on a later date for Nintendo Switch.
