Yaeji Reminisces Her Childhood in Korea in ‘What We Drew’ MV
New York-Seoul artiste Yaeji has released a new music video for the title track from her upcoming mixtape WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던, out 2 April 2020. The music video was shot in Korea with Dawnqmentary and the DADAISM crew. In the MV that stars Yaeji, her grandfather and the DADAISM crew – she reminisces on her childhood memories in Korea.
“This song is about sharing love and gratitude with the people you call family,” Yaeji explains. “Dawn and our friends helped bring my nostalgia for Korea to life.” Drawing from the love/hate experiment on human consciousness that she did in grade school, watch as Yaeji and her friends shower her new onion with gratitude and love in the dreamlike MV:
Yaeji has grown to become one of my favourite artistes. Quirky, undeniably talented and a sound that’s uniquely hers – sexy and damn, it just wants to make you move!
WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던 is produced entirely by Yaeji. Over the course of two years, she started writing the music for the mixtape with no specific narrative – just snippets of her life, a look into her diary.
Korean artistes like Yaeji, HYUKOH and Peggy Gou among others, are breaking the stereotype, showing there’s more to offer than just K-Pop. (Please, we don’t want to see your fan cam on Twitter)
