‘Oyen’ or ginger-coloured cats have earned the reputation of being troublemakers and sometimes they get way in too deep!

According to NST, an unlucky feline ended up on a pile of drifted garbage stuck to a bridge pillar near D’island in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong, yesterday.

The drama unfolded when the Fire and Rescue Department received an unusual distress call at 5:17pm to save the poor cat.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Hafisham Mohd Noor, said 11 firemen, a fire engine and an EMRS from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Department were deployed to the scene and arrived 16 minutes later.

“As soon as the firemen arrived, they used the rappelling technique and pulley system to (reach) the cat (and bring it to) safety”, said Hafisham. Watch here:

While it is unknown how Oyen ended up in that situation, what was known is that the river water was high and flowing rapidly following a downpour. Time was basically of essence to save the wet kitty.

The dedicated team worked hard to rescue the furry-friend as the operation ended almost an hour later at 6:35 pm. Oyen was finally reunited with its teary-eyed owner nearby. Guess you could say, cats do have nine lives!
