The long-awaited TRX Mall, officially known as The Exchange TRX, only just opened its doors to the public on 29 November 2023.

Not even a week since opening, The Exchange TRX’s interactive water feature has been damaged.

The feature is specifically designed for kids to play with. Sadly, some irresponsible parents don’t know the difference between a fountain and a pool – leading to the feature’s temporary closure.

A viral tweet by user @SkyscrapersMY shows the fountains closed off by barricades.

The caption talks about how the feature closed less than a week after opening. @SkyscrapersMY goes on to say that it is “indeed for children to play with water”.

The key word here is “play with“, not “in”.

You’d think that people would be more careful with the place, considering how new and canggih it is. But this is Malaysia; we can’t have nice things apparently.

Even before the temporary closure, several videos showed throngs of families letting their kids use the fountains incorrectly.

We can’t blame the kids, they’re innocent. We can, however, blame their parents for not following the rules properly.

But hey, a broken fountain is probably better than a bomb scare, which occurred at the TRX construction site back in 2021.
