Penang is arguably one of Malaysia’s most prized travel destinations.

Possessing a culture so rich and diverse, Penang was even made the backdrop of a critically-acclaimed fantasy story that celebrates the state’s picturesque streets and sprawling history.

With that, it comes as no surprise that the state has been named in CNN Travel’s list of 22 must-visit destinations for 2022.

Naturally thrilled by the inclusion, state tourism exco Yeoh Soon Hin expressed that the listing was a great start to the new year, cementing the state’s position as a major tourist destination.

However, still affected by the vestiges of turmoil left behind by the pandemic, there is still work that needs to be done before reopening for tourism, especially due to the shortage of workers as well as upholding tighter measures to avoid Covid-19.

Moody Cow Cafe
