‘Tis the Season for Another Riuh Weekend @ APW, Bangsar

You better watch out, you better not cry. You better not pout, we’re telling you why: RIUH is coming back to town! The people’s favourite community-driven bazaar is back from the fun-packed Carnival Weekend last month, and this month, they’re kickstarting December and spreading the Christmas vibes early with their upcoming creative affair! Get ready folks, because RIUH is stepping up the game and bringing you RIUH—Christmas Edition. Who cares if you’re naughty or nice?

So you think last month’s affair was awesome? Well, you haven’t seen nothing yet. With Christmas around the corner, RIUH is set to bring the look and feel of the festive cheer to visitors through the offering of a variety of pop-up stores in the categories of fashion, homeware, artisanal produce, and dishes & snacks that would definitely send you into a food coma.

Exclusively for Christmas, RIUH collaborates with PULP by Papa Palheta for a Christmas Iced Chai Latte, aka drink made from heaven. What a merry, merry Chaimes it is.

All visitors can expect to be dazzled at RIUH with the sights of a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree and special Christmas art installations by Pow Ideas. Tree aside, there will be amazing Christmas decorations all around the bazaar inspired by the Christmas wreath — the hoops are designed to be markers and place markets for the makers. Know what this means? Instagram-worthy photos. #aesthetics

Nothing screams Christmas like presents! But why buy presents when you can make them? RIUH is bringing you a special holiday treat, as they invite Craftiviti for an exclusive 6-in-1 arts and crafts workshop open for everyone who is interested in DIY and crafts! You will be able to learn the tricks of the trades of making all things handmade from scented soap bar, to sun printed handkerchief,  to aroma plaster ornament, to resin magnet, to wax-beads layered candle, and even to whipped lotion made from natural oils. The workshop will take place on Saturday 2 December from 11am to 5pm, and tickets for the workshop may be purchased via RIUH’s website. Get your early tickets now!

RIUH wouldn’t be complete without the amazing live performances. This month, they’re bringing in performers, both old and new, to spice up the Christmas season! Amongst the performances are Priscilla Xavier, duet band Kita:Orang, YouTube musician Wan Imar, and classical instrumental band Casa String Quarlet. Last but not least, there will also be a medley of upbeat joget performance as well as a Mangunatip, the bamboo dance originated from Sabah.

Introducing Priscillia Xavier, the only female touring artiste in Malaysia who is currently gigging circuits outside of Malaysia that includes Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City.Influenced and hugely inspired by the likes of Jeff Buckley, Damien Rice, Alex Vargas, Alanis Morissette, and Tori Amos, Priscillia Xavier now sings with a flair for soul, pop/indie rock, and jazz whilst dabbling in other genres that inspire her music.

Wan Imar is slowly becoming a name that is rising in the music industry. Currently signed under the label KRU Music, he has released a single titled ‘Pinggiran Syurga’, which has captured the hearts of many. Active on his YouTube Chanel, Wan Imar often does covers of famous hits and gives it a twist of his own, all favoured by many which had gained him a lot of followers.

Casa String Quartet is a classical instrumental band made up of a group of mates who attended the same classes and played together during their free time. Today, the group known as Casa String Quartet provides live music for events such as weddings, corporate events, private functions, and recordings.

Now, kids, I hope you’ve prepared your wish lists because Santa Clause is coming to RIUH this weekend along with Santarina and his trusty elves. Kids will be able to take photos with their favourite icon, Santa Clause at the Santa Baby Photobooth this weekend! Not only that, RIUH has prepared a special activity for friends and families, where you get to doodle on a… Mini Cooper. Yes, a Mini Cooper. Showcase your creativity by doodling your hearts away and together, create a one-of-a-kind Mini Cooper.
