The Trailer for the New Jungle Book Movie is Pretty Dang Dark
As we’ve mentioned before in a previous article, there’s no shortage of reboots, remakes and adaptations, but this one looks like something we can get behind. Two years ago we got a live action Jungle Book movie made by Disney that was fun, but the kid needs more acting lessons (just saying).
Directed by Andy Serkis, (yes, the man with many faces, CG or not) from his work in LOTR, King Kong, Planet of the Apes and the smashing hit Black Panther, Serkis’ moodier take on Rupyard Kipling’s book explores more than just the man cub’s adventure with his furry friends, but his relationship with the human society and animals that raised him.
Although there have been attempts of doing a “dark take” on familiar stories, this still looks interesting – especially how Serkis will play with Mowgli’s struggle of identity and belonging, and from what we’ve seen in the trailer, it looks good so we might just catch this one.
Taking a role in front and behind the camera, Serkis brings in an ensemble of A class actors with Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Naomie Harris, Matthew Rhys, Freida Pinto and Rohand Chan, who plays the titular hero Mogwli.
