MP Who Dined at Restaurant in Kelantan Despite No Dine-In SOP Says Sorry
Today (28 June), Minister in the PM’s Department of Economic Affairs, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed admitted and apologised for flouting SOPs regarding the no dine-in regulation at restaurants.
He was caught eating at a cafe in Kampung Kalai, Jeli in Kelantan around 5:30pm on Saturday while he observed how the young restaurateur sustained his business despite the ongoing MCO.
During these times, many have taken sympathy towards these small businesses but some are not as fortunate as others to have visits from members of parliament.
Recently, owner of Rata in SS15 Subang was issued a RM10,000 compound on the spot for operating after 8pm. Despite explaining to authorities that they restaurant needs time to properly close down and asking for the grace period, the authorities paid him no mind and left as soon as they issued him the fine.
Only a few days after the incident, now it has been reported that restaurants are allowed to open until 10pm.
Meanwhile Mustapa’s office issued a statement saying, “He wishes to apologise for the violation of the standard operating procedures and leaves it entirely to the police to take the necessary action.”
