A man who used to work as a party clown dons the costume again as he goes out running food deliveries throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO), reported Berita Harian.

29-year old Mohd Fahmi Mohd Nazri said it’s hard to get gigs as a clown since the Covid-19 outbreak and the implementation of MCO. According to him, wearing the costume seems to do well with getting customers.

Based on the MCO guidelines, birthday parties or any celebration with large crowds are not allowed, so that includes clown performances.

“So now I’m working as a food delivery partner since last week to cover my house rent, monthly car instalments and daily expenses for the family,” he said.

Using the name ‘Speedy de Clown’, Fahmi said he’s been in the business for around 10 years and due to his love of performances, he said he couldn’t just hang-up the costume.

By continuing to perform, he can express his joyful feelings and at the same time, keep polishing his skills. He also said that whenever he gets the chance, he’ll perform a bit at the delivery location.

He said he is grateful for getting encouraging responses from customers with his colourful character as Speedy de Clown.

“Even though it’s hot, sweaty and tiring at times, I’m doing this to survive,” he told Berita Harian.
