Malaysian Actress Yeo Yann Yann Snags An International Emmy Award Nomination
It has been proven time and time again that Malaysia has a lot of talents, and this time actress Yeo Yann Yann gets her first nomination for the 2020 International Emmy Awards.
The Johor-born, Singapore-based actress was nominated for her gripping performance as Lian, a burned-out and financially drained single mother who’s taking care of her 19-year old autistic son on HBO Asia Original miniseries, Invisible Stories.
The 43-year old actress shared her reaction to the news with a short message on Facebook, saying “I am excited!”
Yeo was nominated alongside fellow nominees, Emma Bading (Germany), Andrea Beltrao (Brazil) and Glenda Jackson (Britain) in the Best Performance by an Actress category, which was revealed in New York on 24 September, following the conclusion of the Primetime Emmy Awards.
Shot entirely in Singapore, Invisible Stories is a six-part miniseries set in a fictional housing estate in multicultural Singapore, telling untold stories of the Lion City.
The winners for the 2020 International Emmy Awards will be announced on Monday, 24 November in New York.
While we wait for that, you can watch Yeo’s performance on Invisible Stories, which is now streaming on HBO GO.
