What is JUICE’s Best Of?

Every year, there’s a new artist everyone’s talking about, a gig that people won’t shut up about, a DJ who keeps ending up on everyone’s weekend plans, and that one café, bar, or club you somehow find yourself at every other week.

Malaysian culture has its regulars, its newcomers, and its fair share of surprises. We think all of them deserve a little recognition.

That’s where JUICE Best Of 2026 comes in.

For those who remember our previous editions, Best Of is our annual celebration of the people, places, and names making things happen across Malaysia’s music, fashion, events, and lifestyle scenes. It’s also a chance for readers to have their say, put their favourites forward, and show a little love to the people they think deserve more attention.

A little recognition goes a long way.

One thing we’ve always wanted Best Of to do is look beyond the obvious names. Malaysian culture isn’t just shaped by whoever has the biggest following or the most mainstream recognition. There’s plenty happening outside the usual radar, from independent artists and underground collectives to emerging designers and venues keeping their respective scenes alive.

We’re interested in all of it.

That means established names and newcomers get to share the same space. We’re not particularly interested in drawing a line between mainstream and underground, either. If someone’s doing something worth talking about, we want them in the conversation.

Of course, we have our own opinions (we’re JUICE, after all), but we’d much rather hear yours. So, who’s had a particularly good year? Which release have you been playing on repeat? Who’s been holding it down behind the decks? And which local spot has seen far too much of you lately?

And finally, Person of the Year, our biggest category, dedicated to someone who’s made a real impression on Malaysian culture this year. Maybe they’ve started something, changed the conversation, or simply had a year that’s been impossible to ignore.

So, who gets your vote?

Voting is officially open, and we’d love to see you get involved. You could be backing a personal favourite, giving a lesser-known name some much-deserved attention, or campaigning for the place that practically knows your order by heart.. whatever it is, this is your chance to show some support!

Our previous edition saw thousands of votes come in, and we’re looking forward to seeing who makes the cut this time around. It’s always interesting to see which names come out on top, especially when the results don’t necessarily match our own predictions.
