Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack and Star Wars Clone Wars, and writer for several memorable episodes of The Powerpuff Girls, is cooking up a new animated series. It’s been a while since Tartakovsy put out anything new, other than his Hotel Transylvania movies which have been doing well in the box office. So it’s not that surprising that he’s going back to his more adult-theme animation roots with a new show called Primal.

The half-hour series that has been ordered by Adult Swim tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a caveman and a dinosaur. After watching the teaser trailer, you best believe it’s not going to be like Disney’s The Good Dinosaur or The Land Before Time lest it involves Arlo or Little Foot going on a rampage.

Bloody roar. That’s what it looks like.

Tartakovsky has always been known for his unique animation style and excellent writing, and Primal could be the next great thing since Samurai Jack. If you haven’t watched the final season of SJ, be sure to check it out ’cause it’s a satisfying and realistic conclusion to the Ronin’s adventure, unlike GoT’s messy final season.

You can catch Primal when it comes out on Adult Swim later this year. For more pop culture, keep it here at JUICE.
