Think Gen Z only knows how to order food delivery and reheat leftovers?

Seismik Makan wants to prove otherwise.

The food platform under REV Media Group has launched Siapa Masak Tu? Juara Masak Gen Z, a nationwide competition aimed at uncovering Malaysia’s next generation of culinary talent while challenging the stereotype that Gen Z is the so-called “microwave generation.”

And there’s a pretty tasty incentive involved too: RM5,000 in cash.

The competition is open to Malaysians aged 18 to 29, giving young cooks, food creators and kitchen experimenters a chance to show off what they can do in front of the camera.

How To Join

Taking part is simple.

Record and upload a video with a maximum duration of 90 seconds on Instagram or TikTok
Complete this sentence in the caption: “Gen Z should not be labeled as the ‘microwave generation’ because…”
Tag the official @seismikmakan Instagram or TikTok account
Use the official hashtag #SiapaMasakTu

You are highly encouraged to showcase your cooking skills, creativity, and unique personalities through your videos.

More Than Just A Cooking Competition

Beyond the prize money, the campaign is designed to give young Malaysians a platform to showcase their passion for cooking, creativity and personality.

Whether it’s a family recipe, a viral food hack or a completely original dish, Seismik Makan is encouraging contestants to bring their own flavour to the challenge.

“Through this campaign, Seismik Makan hopes to inspire more Gen Z individuals to explore their passion in the culinary field and build a more active community of food lovers on social media,” said Muhamad Helmi Yahya, Head of Video (English Network, REV Media Group).
