No New Leads Despite Conducting Three Inspections At Zalina’s Abandoned Residence, Say Police
Over the past few weeks, citizens have been on edge, awaiting news updates regarding the unexplained disappearance of beloved former TV3 personality, Zalina Azman, as of November 20 last year.
One peculiar detail disclosed by authorities was that her residence in Shah Alam was found in a disorderly state. Zalina’s purse comprising of her identity card, driving license, bank card, credit card, car keys and RM600 cash were also recovered from the home.
It was also reported that her home was being refurbished but the project was abandoned halfway. This prompted police to look for the labourers who were working on renovation work at Zalina’s house around the time of her mysterious vanishing.
However, last week, Malay Mail reported that authorities were at a loss and could not track the workers. Datuk S. Sasikala Devi, deputy police chief of Selangor, said the workers’ ethnicities were unable to be determined unless they came forward wilfully to assist with the investigations.
Yesterday, Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, said that no new leads have been found as of now.
“There have been three inspections at Zalina’s house since she was first reported missing.
“The latest inspection took place on July 28 with the Forensic Unit (D10) and the Detection Dog Unit (K9) of the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK). Until now, there has not been any indication or new discovery about OH (Orang Hilang, Missing Person),” he told Berita Harian.
On July 18, local media agencies collectively reported that the police were looking for the former television host who had been reported missing by her son, Mikhael Norman.
Mikhael, 33, told the police that he had been unable to contact her since November 24, five days before she was reported missing, to inform her that her father had been hospitalised.
On July 23, it was discovered that her phone had been switched off for unknown reasons since November 20, leading police to believe that she had disappeared earlier than what was initially disclosed.
Police also claim that they have received numerous tip-offs from individuals asserting that they may have spotted Zalina, but none have actually led them to her.
The former newscaster’s neighbours also say that they had not seen Zalina around the neighbourhood over the past few years and assumed that she was not the type to mingle.
