7 Istana Negara Staff Tested Positive, King & Queen Quarantined

According to Bernama, Malaysia’s King and Queen are currently under quarantine after seven employees from Istana Negara tested positive for coronavirus.

The royal couple – Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin and his wife Tuanku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, however, have tested negative for the virus. Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadli Shamsuddin said that they decided to go on self-quarantine for 14 days, beginning Wednesday.

In a statement by Istana Negara yesterday, all seven staff members are currently receiving treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

The staff members are all in stable condition and The Health Ministry is currently identifying the source of infection. All close contacts and relevant Istana Negara employees, they have been instructed to take the Covid-19 test.

“To ensure that exposure to the virus can be controlled and curbed at Istana Negara, all close contact and the relevant staff members have been instructed to quarantine for 14 days,” stated the palace.

The statement also said that the king has been advised not to meet with our PM, Muhyiddin Yassin for the weekly pre-Cabinet meeting that was scheduled today, and all subsequent sessions until the global pandemic situation is over.
