‘Wednesday’ S2: Things Are Getting Much Weirder at Nevermore

Note: The following story contains minor spoilers from Wednesday Season 1. But really, if you haven’t seen it yet before reading this, that’s on you.

Netflix just dropped the first teaser for Wednesday Season 2, and it’s basically a goth fever dream.

Jenna Ortega returns as everyone’s favourite deadpan, emotionally constipated sleuth. But this time, she’s not flying solo.

It’s getting even more crowded

The teaser is all blades, black lace, and bristling tension—Wednesday’s back at Nevermore and absolutely nothing is going according to plan. There’s a glimpse of creepy new corridors and a familiar Hyde lurking in the shadows.

And yes, we’ll see the return of Enid, whose bubbly energy still just has her wanting to ‘hug it out’.

This time, Nevermore’s getting even more crowded—with family. Enter Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez), who’s starting his own freshman freak show.

Poor kid’s “an outcast among outcasts,” says director Tim Burton. “He comes into Nevermore for the first time… He’s just exploring his newfound teenage powers.” That won’t go wrong at all.

Even worse? Mom and Dad are also hanging around campus. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán are stepping up their screen time as Morticia and Gomez Addams, and Wednesday is not thrilled.

But aside from familiar faces, we’ll be welcoming new principal, Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi)—a man with enough skeletons in his closet to make even Wednesday raise an eyebrow.

“Something about him is not right,” Buscemi teases. “But he loves the school and he has real outcast pride.” Naturally.

We’ll also be seeing Joanna Lumley, who storms into the series as Hester Frump—Morticia’s sharp-tongued mother and Wednesday’s unexpected ally.

And of course, Thing is back. With trauma. Apparently disembodied hands also go through their own problems.

Old wounds will need tending in Season 2

Season 1 left us with a lot of unfinished business—like the fact that barista-boyfriend Tyler (Hunter Doohan) was actually the murderous Hyde all along. The new teaser gives us a brief, bone-chilling glimpse of his reunion with Wednesday.

But let’s just say it’s not exactly a coffee date.

Speaking of reunions, Part 1 of Season 2 drops on 6 August, with Part 2 following on 3 September. So mark your calendars, polish your boots, and maybe send your therapist a heads-up.

As you should know by now, nothing at Nevermore Academy stays buried for long.
