WATCH: UMNO MP Zahidi Says The Current Political Crisis is Rakyat’s Fault For Voting PH in #GE14
According to Malaysiakini, Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said yesterday that voters only have themselves to blame for the country’s current political instability, as the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration’s fate remains in the balance.
Zahidi made the statement in response to a question about the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah who advised politicians to stop politicking as it could affect the stability of the country’s administration. Watch here:
“Ini semua adalah salah rakyat. Orang politik hanya nak betulkan kesalahan rakyat.”

“Firstly, we have to adhere to the advice of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, but we were in a 50-50 situation where no investors want to come, the economy is not good, and it was the people who caused this situation. The people voted 50-50 (for Harapan) first and they were deceived.
Don’t blame the politicians because what is happening now is caused by the people who voted (for Harapan) because they were deceived (by them)”, Zahidi said in the clip which has been shared on Twitter over 13k retweets at the time of writing.
Despite his claim, the current PN government, which also includes Umno, was the result of Muhyiddin and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia allying itself with former political opponents, after which Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as prime minister.
Of course, netizens didn’t take to fondly of what he said. Take a look:
Malaysian politics is a joke. PLEASE. END THIS POLITIC CONFLICT, END THIS POWER GRABBING AND WORK A WAY OUT TO LEAD THE COUNTRY OUT OF THIS MESS.
The point of your job is to better the country, and you cant really do that by blaming the rakyat right? https://t.co/c1qkg6CT01

This is why we, especially the youth, cannot afford to be apolitical when we have people like this running the office. Their decision-making affects our current and future generation. If you think being apolitical saves you from a lot of headache, think again. https://t.co/AKYDoh2TGW

We shall remember this day. The day this person, who is supposed to take care of the nation and its people, has put the blame on the PEOPLE. We did not vote for you.
Your day shall come that you’ll pay for the words you just said.
I am LIVID. https://t.co/fkdn6qAONm

Bodoh sial dia ni. Orang mengundi PH haritu bukannya sebab berharap sangat dengan manifesto PH, tp sebab nak stopkan Najib dari terus merompak duit rakyat.
Yg sekarang keadaan jadi tergantung 50:50 bukan salah rakyat tapi sebab ada MP yg khianat n lompat parti la bodoh! https://t.co/MEAKNccTl2

The citizens may have contributed a percentage to our current spike in cases, BUT for you politicians to say that we’re the ones to blame and need to be corrected by y’all? You seriously need to think about your own stupidity and lack of cautious planning during Sabah’s voting. https://t.co/DomLzeB2Cx

Recently, the Umno MP, who’s also Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister, drew flak when he criticised and accused Sabahan teen YouTube sensation, Veveonah, of lying for fame. He later stated that he was given wrong information and apologised on Facebook.
