There’s absolutely no excuse to take out your anger and frustrations on an innocent animal.
A man had allegedly grabbed and violently slammed a cat to the ground for climbing onto his car windshield at a parking lot at Jalan Rejang, Setapak on Monday, NST reported.
Footage from the CCTV went viral on social media, angered netizens who watched the video and prompted the police to make an investigation.
The clip below is deeply disturbing, so watch at your own discretion.
The 36-year-old man has been called for questioning at Setapak police station to get his statement, said Wangsa Maju district police chief Superintendent Rajab Ahmad Ismail.
“The suspect, who does not have a criminal record, is believed to have acted consciously (to cause hurt to the cat),” Rajab Ahmad said.
The cat is feared to have suffered serious injuries including internal bleeding from the abuse, Bernama reported.
The case has been classified as animal cruelty under Section 29 (1) (a) of the Animal Welfare Act 1953 (Amendment 2013). If convicted, the perpetrator could be fined RM50,000, one year in jail or both.
