Trump Declares State of Emergency for Washington Ahead of Biden’s Inauguration
In the wake of the sudden state of emergency declared by Malaysia’s PM, Muhyiddin Yassin, comes another declaration by soon to be ex-POTUS, Donald Trump.
Realising the dangerous state of the U.S Capitol after the riots, Donald Trump has approved a state of emergency. The decision was also caused by the numerous death threats targeting Joe Biden surrounding his upcoming inauguration.
The order sees federal assistance until January 24.
What this means for the U.S Capitol is that the Federal Emergency Management Agency is able to “identify, mobilise and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency”.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has also warned of possible armed protests in 50 states across the country in response to Biden’s inauguration.
Mayor of Washington, Muriel Bowser, sent a letter requesting tighter security after the riots at the Capitol shook the country. A total of 5 people were killed.
Bowser also requested emergency provisions and an ongoing input of daily intelligence and threat briefings from the FBI starting from January 11 to January 24.
At the moment, many are pushing to impeach Trump for inciting his supporters to storm the Capitol.
Impeach.
