The New Metallic Silver ASICS GEL-Lyte III Pays Homage to Kuala Lumpur’s Twin Towers
The ASICS GEL-LYTE III has been known to be one of the most iconic sneakers when it comes to comfort and style as the shoe has been reworked and redesigned by famous names in the industry such as Sean Wotherspoon, commes des garcon and even KITH.
This time, the tables have turned as two Malaysian brands, SneakerLAH and Hundred% have gotten the opportunity to collaborate with the Japanese sneaker brand to create a pair of kicks that pays homage to one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers, the Petronas Twin Towers.
Just like the Twin Tower’s illuminating silver surfaces, the shoe is coloured the same way too with its upper halves also executed with metallic silver skins resembling the exterior aesthetic of the structure.
Also, a little hint of green can also be seen poking out the lower heel of the shoe just before the midsole and in this case, points out to the tower’s tinted windows.
On the tongue of the shoe, we can see some facts about the twin towers, like it’s the date of completion, coordinates and even height.
Apart from that, the shoe shows off a few Malaysian elements too with the heels adorned with “LAH” lettering.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the famous ASICS GEL-LYTE III, and we’re glad that to see our homegrown brands are collaborating to make something special that’s dedicated to Malaysia.
If you’re interested in the shoe, SneakerLAH will be raffling off this colourway on December 3 and 4, and the global launch will happen on Dec 19.
