You know an adventure is about to happen when you see someone with a small black box strapped onto them! It’s no question why GoPro has always been the go-to camera for thrill-seekers and camera enthusiasts alike. We could all agree that what makes GoPro cameras amazing is their wide user base and having no-compromise on quality. Recently, there have been a lot of rumours regarding their latest release and guess what? It’s ALL true.

GoPro has officially launched the GoPro HERO8 Black, Mods and MAX! There are tonnes of updates that make it easier to use – as if it wasn’t easy before. Regardless of the content you’re planning to shoot, these latest models and enhancements are versatile and powerful!

1. HERO8 Black (RM1879)

HERO8 Black sends it big with next-level HyperSmooth 2.0 video stabilisation. It has dramatically improved stabilisation over HyperSmooth 1.0, if you can believe that! HyperSmooth 2.0 works in all resolutions, frame rates, features a new Boost mode and has in-app horizon levelling.

Also new, TimeWarp 2.0 features automatic rate adjustment and tap-control speed ramping. HERO8 Black sports four digital lenses to easily select a field of view, improved audio with enhanced wind suppression, customisable mode presets and a lighter, frameless design featuring folding mounting fingers. Shazam!

2. Mods (Price TBC)

The Media Mod, Display Mod and Light Mod are modular accessories that deck HERO8 Black with professional-grade audio, a front-facing display and enhanced lighting. For those seeking the additional performance, Mods enable users to transform their HERO8 Black into a production powerhouse!

The Media Mod delivers shotgun-mic directional audio performance and features two cold shoe mounts for additional accessories along with Type-C, HDMI and 3.5mm external mic adapter ports.

As for The Display Mod, it is a folding front- or rear-facing 1.90-inch display that attaches to the top of the Media Mod. It’s the perfect size for both framing up vlogging shots – folding down and out of the way when not in use.

The Light Mod is waterproof to 33 feet (10 meters), wearable, gear-mountable and the world’s most versatile light. It is ready to brighten any scene whether mounted to the Media Mod or attached to a GoPro mount. It’s rechargeable and comes complete with a diffuser to soften lighting when filming with HERO8 Black.

3. MAX (RM2310)

GoPro MAX is a dual-lens GoPro camera that maxes out on versatility. It’s like having three cameras in one!

Use MAX as a waterproof, maximum-stabilised single-lens HERO camera, or a dual-lens 360 camera. It can be a next-level vlogging camera with its built-in front-facing display and shotgun-mic audio capabilities, or a high-action mounted camera. No matter how you use it, MAX delivers next-level, unbreakable video stabilisation with Max HyperSmooth.

MAX also features four digital lenses – including the new ultra-wide Max SuperView that’s GoPro’s widest field of view ever. Additional updates include in-camera 360 video and photo stitching plus keyframe-based editing of 360 content in the GoPro app.

Besides this awesome line-up, GoPro has updated their app! No more downloading the Quik app that edits your GoPro footage on your phone, GoPro now has built-in their updated app where you can edit, allow filters to be applied to single clips as well as multi-clip edits, and stream live at full 1080p resolution on both HERO8 Black and MAX straight through your phone.

The app’s auto-generated video edit has four new themes inspired by iconic GoPro edits from the company’s in-house media team. Depending on your content, you can choose between Adrenaline Seeker, Adventure Travel, Cinematic and Memory Curator. You can share directly to social media or store within the app as an editable draft to revisit. How easy is that?

As for MAX, it will be available at authorised retailers from 24 October 2019.

Mods will be available for pre-order on GoPro.com on December 2019.
