YouTube Sensation Pavithra Allegedly Attacked By Drunk Husband, Sugu, Who Also Had a Weapon

At the beginning of MCO, YouTube couple Sugu-Pavithra captured the hearts of Malaysians with their humble upbringings and delicious local recipes. Their palpable chemistry on screen became the talk of the nation once PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin gave them a shout-out and even donated several kitchen tools and appliances to the family.

Growing at a rapid rate, the couple even flaunted their silver play-button after garnering a million YouTube subscribers and Pavithra even graced the cover of Pepatung magazine. Artists also painted Pavithra. The duo seemed unstoppable.

Today, M. Sugu, the husband, was arrested for allegedly abusing his wife, S. Pavithra.

According to The Star, a dispute happened at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital on 21 July. Pavithra was visiting a relative when her husband arrived, appearing to be drunk, and started arguing with her. The confrontation got increasingly heated to the point where Sugu hit Pavithra. He also had a weapon with him, allegedly a sickle.

The reason for the argument? Apparently, Sugu was enraged when Pavithra did not mention him when receiving an award for the Ipoh City Icon the day before.

The Magistrate’s court granted a three-day remand order against M. Sugu for alleged physical abuse towards his wife. He is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapon Act 1958.
