If you’re a fan of retro gaming, you’ll probably want to keep your eyes on the upcoming Original PlayStation Life-Size Multi Cushion Case Book. Unnecessarily long name, yes. But that’s what Japanese publisher Takarajimasha is calling their new (officially licensed) PS1-inspired laptop carrying case.

Modelled after the original PlayStation that came out back in 1994, the carrying case pays tribute to the console that defined modern gaming as we know it today.

Not exactly 1:1 in terms of dimensions, but definitely accurate

Interestingly, the case follows similar dimensions to the actual console it’s inspired by, just a little upsized. This makes it a great collectible, even if you don’t use a carrying case for your laptop or tablet.

Add to that the fact that it’s officially licensed by PlayStation Japan, and you’ve got an accessory that’s surely gonna spark conversation.

The case features high-fidelity printing to ensure all the little details of the PS1 are visible, and of course, it accurately captures the classic grey colour scheme of the console, the colourful PlayStation logo, and the button placement.

You can expect to fit devices up to 13 inches in size, like a MacBook Air. You can probably get away with squeezing a 14-inch MacBook Pro in it, but anything bigger will probably be a bit of a stretch, or just not possible at all.

Slated for release on 6 July 2026, Malaysians interested in buying the case can order it directly from the official distributor, 7 Net Japan. It’ll retail for ¥3,630 (roughly RM92). If you happen to be in Japan, you can also get it at select 7-Eleven stores nationwide.
