Love them or hate them, but K-Clique, the hip-hop group straight outta Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, has gotten a nomination at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards. (EMA)

The group, which consists of eight members – MK, Noki, Tuju, SoMean, KDeaf, FareedPF, Gnello and Nasty Nas has been nominated for their song, Merais in the Best Southeast Asia Act category.

Speaking to Harian Metro, SoMean told the news outlet that the nomination is a big deal to them since they’re relatively new in the music industry.

“We never thought we would have made it this far in being nominated for the MTV EMA. It was beyond our wildest dreams,” SoMean said.

“All this time, we just work to produce the best and quality music for our listeners and fans. We do it sincerely and leave it to the listeners whether to like it or not,” he continued.

The Malaysian group, which rose to fame for their songs Mimpi and Pulang will be contending with other Southeast Asian acts – Agnez Mo (Indonesia), Ben&Ben (the Philippines), Benjamin Kheng (Singapore), Violette Wautier (Thailand) and Jack (Vietnam).

Joe Flizzow made headlines two years ago when he won the Best Southeast Asian Act at the MTV European Music Awards that took place at Bizkaia Arena in Spain.
