M’sian Couple’s New Car Engulfed In Puchong Flash Flood 1 Hour After Purchase

A local couple’s joy over their newly acquired car, a Proton X50, turned into dismay just an hour after driving it out of the showroom.

The car was delivered to the couple around 5 p.m. by none other than the seller, who happened to be Azhazul Azri’s brother. Azhazul took to Facebook to share the harrowing experience.

The unfortunate incident unfolded in Puchong, a city known for its unpredictable weather patterns and susceptibility to flash floods.

In his post, he lamented, “Floods are a risk beyond our control.”

“One moment, it’s a sunny day at the shopping centre, and the next, you come out to find your car submerged. It had been just an hour since it left the showroom,” said Azhazul.

Thankfully, his brother’s foresight played a pivotal role in alleviating the financial burden. Convinced of the need for comprehensive coverage, he persuaded the car owner to opt for “special perils” insurance.

This decision proved to be a lifesaver, as the policy covered incidents like floods, emphasising the critical importance of such insurance in the face of unpredictable flash floods.

The unfortunate incident happened at IOI Mall Puchong in Selangor, where a sudden downpour occurred at 5.45 p.m.

This resulted in flash floods affecting various areas, including the open-air car park. A total of 65 vehicles, including the newly purchased car, fell victim to the rising waters.

According to local reports, the rain persisted until 7.30 p.m., causing widespread damage and distress among car owners.
