Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh may be an Oscar-winning, kung fu-kicking actress in the eyes of the world, but just like the rest of us, a mother’s wishes come first.

After unveiling her surprise marriage to former Ferrari CEO Jean Todt in July 2023, Datin Janet Yeoh was unaware of the couple’s nuptials.

The couple was engaged for 19 years before officially marrying on 27 July 2023 in Geneva. Their Malaysian ceremony took place in Yeoh’s hometown of Ipoh at a restaurant called Little Katong.

The couple’s friends and family attended this more intimate gathering, with Yeoh and her husband mingling with guests throughout the ceremony.

Little Katong was adorned with posters and other Yeoh-related memorabilia, including a photoshopped Tomorrow Never Dies poster of her and Todt as well as her recent Oscar trophy.

What proceeded this smaller ceremony was a private affair that was held in Emerald Bay on Pulau Pangkor, where a much larger banquet was held.

Director of The Fifth Element, Luc Besson was in attendance, while the wedding was planned and organised by Taiwanese designer Shiatzy Chen.

Needless to say, we’d say that Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh kept her promise to her mother and successfully brought Hollywood to our side of the world in celebration of her marriage.

Yeoh also returned home to Ipoh after winning at the 94th Academy Awards for her role in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once, where she also spent time with her mother.
