We need a vaccine… now!

In India, a 24-year old man cut off his own tongue in hopes that it will stop the spread of Covid-19, according to Astro Awani.

The man is a devout follower of the deity, Kali Mata, and he works at the Bhavani Mata temple. Adamant in his beliefs, the man was confident that if he cut his tongue off, it would please the deity so much that Covid-19 would simply be banished from existence and all would return to normalcy.

The story began when the man left the temple and told his brother that he was going to the market. When he didn’t return, the brother called his cellphone multiple times before someone else answered and informed him that his brother had chopped his own tongue off at another temple.

The man was said to be in a fit of rage which drove him to cut his own tongue. When he was found, the man was unconscious in a pool of his own blood and his tongue in his hands. He was then rushed to the hospital where the doctors are attempting to reattach his tongue.

The main reason for his desperation is the fact that he is a migrant and the virus is keeping him from returning home. After being engulfed in homesickness, he decided to take matters into his own hands and sought help from his deity. Reports claim he was extremely depressed prior to the incident and that the sacrifice was his last resort.

It is tragic to see the circumstances people are being subjected to during this lockdown period. That is why it is important to stay home, practice social distancing and good hygiene in order to flatten the curve. Do your part and maybe soon, this will all be over.
