Malaysia Women Marathon Organises Virtual Run, #TheKebayaRun, In Support Of Ending Violence Towards Women
Marathons have been one of the most affected activities ever since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to this, marathons have been put on a temporary pause to prevent the spread of the virus, but that does not necessarily mean that individuals are not allowed to run, especially if it’s for a good cause.
The Malaysia Women Marathon (MWM) has organised a special run called #TheKebayaRun with the objective to create awareness of ending violence against women. The event is set to run (no pun intended) from 25 November to 10 December, following different distance categories of 16km, 49km, 96km and 145km.

The way the run works is simple.
Participants are free to pick any category and are able to run, hike, jog or walk for 16 days as long as the results are submitted by screenshotting the distance ran on a phone application or GPS watch.
Besides raising awareness, #TheKebayaRun is also raising funds to help Jewel Malaysia, an NGO providing aid to abused women. Therefore, participants who are keen to join the run will have to pay an RM50 registration fee and will receive one t-shirt that looks like a kebaya as well as a virtual certificate to redeem upon completion of the run.
#TheKebayaRun is also open to many entitlements of discount vouchers from brands like Breena Beauty, Big Big Place Outdoor store, an entry fee to the Sydney Marathon and MWM merchandise. Not to mention, there are amazing prizes to be won too!
