The student who highlighted rape culture in her former school, which ultimately led to more students across the nation coming forward and galvanising the #MakeSchoolASaferPlace movement, Ain Husniza, received a lawyer’s letter yesterday seeking RM1 million as a compensation for defamation from the teacher who allegedly made rape jokes and verbal harassment in class.

The accused teacher named Ain, Saiful Nizam Ab Wahab (her father), and her mother in the lawsuit, and demanded them to withdraw previous statements and make a public apology, along with the compensation.

Saiful Nazim shared a Facebook post regarding the letter of demand, stating that it was delivered yesterday afternoon, indicating that there were a total of 5 demands to be met.

Since tweeting about the list of demands, she has received encouraging response from netizens and politicians, showing that she has a community of supporters standing with her in solidarity.

Her original Tiktoks on the matter went viral immediately after they were posted and were reported by international news outlets.

Aside from the accused teacher, Ain has also lodged two police reports against her school mates for threatening her with rape. She withdrew them after the families of the students apologised.

Ain and her family are currently refraining from commenting further on the case, as per advised by her lawyers.
