Lost Wild Boar Attack Civilians In Mosque
In a report by Harian Metro, last night on March 6, mosque-goers were surprised by an unwelcome guest when a wild lost boar sneaked its way into a mosque at Sungai Buloh, Selangor. Amidst the ruckus at Masjid Jamek Sungai Plong, only one person was injured by the animal.
The mosque’s imam Ungku Ahmad Hazwan Ungku Kamarudin stated that around 8pm, the wild boar showed up at the mosque grounds and started chasing a group of children. However, it changed courses as the animal ran into the mosque and immediately attacked a person who was performing their prayer. He also learnt that there was a injury at the neck of the boar.
“Someone was injured by the animal. Some were trying to escape the hall and some were trying to shoo the animal away from the prayer hall,” the imam said in a post on the mosque’s Facebook page.
Thankfully, the crowd succeeded in getting the wild boar out after 30 minutes. Ungku Ahmad Hazwan added that the wild boar hit two motorcycles in the grounds of the mosque before being shot by a member of the mosque with a shotgun (senapang patah).
“The Sungai Plong police station was also contacted to help diffuse the situation,” he added. Ungku Ahmad Hazwan said that three quarters of the hall and veranda of the mosque were affected by the incident. The mosque’s management has contacted the Selangor Mufti’s Office (JMNS) to help handle the issue and do an evaluation on proper cleaning of the mosque.
“Right now, the prayers in the mosque are being carried out as usual at the part of that was not affected,” he said.
