A total of 204 out of 453 staff stationed at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) Covid-19 vaccination centre (PPV) in Shah Alam, Selangor were confirmed positive of Covid-19. The vaccination centre will be shut down for one day, today (13 July).

The Covid-19 test results were obtained last night after a mass screening and the centre will be closed to facilitate sanitisation.

According to Science, Technology and Innovation Minister and coordinator of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Khairy Jamaluddin, 88% of those working at IDCC had been vaccinated and those found to be infected have a low viral load, meaning that the chances of them transmitting the virus is low.

IDCC staffers would also be isolated and replaced with a fresh batch of people as a precautionary measure against infections. KJ says that the facility’s ventilation system would also be inspected.

The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CTIF) has advised all those who got vaccinated at IDCC between 29 June and 12 July to do self-assessment and get tested if they develop Covid-19 symptoms.

All the appointments for today will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
