Japan’s Latest Onsen Is Pokémon-Themed & 100% Free Entry

Yuttari Park in Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture has just gotten a Pokémon revamp, thanks to the Pokémon With You Foundation.

Dubbed the Wakura Pokémon Footbath, the onsen is located in the town of Nanao, where you’ll find other hot springs as well, and the best part of all is the fact that it’s completely free to use.

A rejuvenating pit stop on your Japan travels

Many of the facilities in Ishikawa Prefecture were heavily damaged by the Noto Earthquake of 2024, which registered as a magnitude-7.6 on the Richter scale.

Since then, the region has slowly been rebuilding itself, becoming arguably better than its original state prior to the earthquake. The latest example of that is the Wakura Pokémon Footbath.

Now, visitors (domestic and international) can enjoy a relaxing stop at the onsen by going for a quick dip in the natural hot springs while enjoying the expansive bay views. Unlike traditional onsens, however, you won’t have to be nude, since it’s just a footbath.

Of course, you’ll see a bunch of references to your favourite Pokémon, including Pikachu, Gyarados, Vaporeon, and Psyduck to name a few. Seems like there’s a whole lot of fan service for lovers of first-gen Pokémon.
