Here’s How Much Malaysians Will Pay For Fuel This Week

Retail prices for unsubsidised RON95, RON97, and diesel have been lowered this week, with the new rates taking effect from today, 28 May, after a drop in global fuel prices last week.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced that despite the reduction, global petroleum markets remain unstable due to ongoing tensions in West Asia, which have continued for over 12 weeks and are still impacting fuel prices worldwide.

The latest fuel prices from 28 May to 3 June are:
– RON97: RM4.65 per litre (reduced by 20 sen)
– Unsubsidised RON95: RM3.92 per litre (reduced by 15 sen)
– Diesel in Peninsular Malaysia: RM4.87 per litre (reduced by 10 sen)

Meanwhile, subsidised RON95 under the BUDI95 programme stays at RM1.99 per litre, while diesel prices in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan also remain unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.

MOF said the government is continuing its targeted fuel subsidy efforts through the BUDI95 programme, which benefits over 14 million eligible Malaysians and accounts for more than 90% of the nation’s fuel usage.

Based on the current unsubsidised RON95 price, 200 litres would cost RM784. Under the subsidy scheme, recipients only pay RM398 monthly for the same amount, with the government covering RM386.

The government also encouraged Malaysians to use fuel wisely by planning trips efficiently and cutting down on unnecessary travel amid ongoing uncertainty in the global oil market.
