Malaysian actor Zul Ariffin has stepped into the role of Archie Everhardt for a Malaysia-exclusive version of the upcoming animated sports comedy, GOAT.
Originally voiced by Stranger Things star David Harbour, Malaysian audiences will hear Archie take on a more local cadence, a move that Sony Pictures Entertainment Malaysia believes will land quite well when it hits theatres on 19 March.
A milestone for Zul

This will be the actor’s first time performing an animated character entirely in English.
Add to that the fact that this specific version of the film has been made with Malaysian viewers in mind, making the story feel a little closer to home.
According to Sony Pictures Entertainment Malaysia, Zul’s casting for the local exclusive was a pretty obvious choice. In many ways, the actor mirrors the character he now voices, since Archie Everhardt is portrayed as a formidable athlete with a very strong presence.

The goal of this special collaboration goes beyond swapping voices for a more local flavour, Sony explains. It’s meant to bridge Hollywood animation and Malaysian audiences, giving viewers a version of the film that feels culturally familiar without losing its global appeal.
GOAT follows a (you guessed it) goat named Will, who dreams of making it big in professional sport. But due to his small size, he’s got a lot to prove, especially when you consider that the existing athletes in his world are all pretty huge.

He miraculously gets the opportunity to compete in “roarball”, which is essentially a more brutal and extreme version of basketball.
The story blends sports drama with comedy and an underdog story, mixing it all in with the physical and mental chaos of contact sports.
