Get This One-Time Offer From TNB For RM231 Off On Your July Electricity Bill

The government recently announced Bantuan Prihatin Elektrik Tambahan, an initiative to help Malaysians with their increased electricity bills during the Movement Control Order (MCO)

To help Malaysians cope financially, the Bantuan Prihatin Elektrik Tambahan is an additional aid worth RM942 million provided by the government in partnership with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). This will benefit up to 7.66 million households across the country.

Depending on your electricity usage from April to June, you’ll either get to enjoy free electricity or a one-time RM231 discount for your electricity bill in July

To break it down, TNB is offering a RM77 discount to customers for every month of the MCO, which includes April, May, and June – for a total discount of RM231.

If your electricity bill each month is less than RM77 (equivalent to usage of 300kWj), you’ll get to enjoy free electricity for those three months. For those who used more than that amount, you will receive the RM77 per month amount as a one-time RM231 discount in your July electricity bill.

Over the next seven days, you will receive your July 2020 bill along with a Bantuan Prihatin Elektrik statement* once your meter has been read. Both will be mailed to your premises, but you can also obtain them through the myTNB app or portal, 48 hours after the notice is received.

*Only applicable if you have received your actual bill in June 2020.

On top of that, TNB is increasing the discount for electricity bills from 2% to 10% for one of the tiers during these three months

If your electricity bill is between RM231.81 and RM395.60 (equivalent to usage of 601-900 kWj), you will get to enjoy an additional 10% off for April, May, and June. The additional discount for these months will be credited back into your account.

TNB is also offering an easy payment plan until December 2020, with no additional surcharge

This easy payment plan is offered to all TNB customers, so you can enjoy it automatically without having to opt in. You just have to pay the instalment amount stated under “Pelan Bayaran Mudah” every month.

Besides that, TNB has also stopped issuing disconnection notices until end of September and will be waiving interest on late payments until 30 September
