Watch This esports Player Devour Nasi Lemak Still Wrapped in Banana Leaf
Nasi lemak bungkus is just one of those dishes that bring people together. It’s also quite a popular dish abroad, making it a great representation of Malaysian food on the global stage. It makes sense that its one of the first dishes many tourists try out when they make their way to Bolehland.
Though there’s no real ‘correct’ way to eat it, most people know that its banana leaf wrapping isn’t meant to be eaten. Keyword: “Most”.
Like an onigiri, but not really
In a video posted on X by esports organisation @OGesports, we can see Dota 2 player Jake Kanner (aka SirActionSlacks) devouring a nasi lemak bungkus like it’s some kind of wrap or onigiri.
It’s strange to see this. He watches at least two other people eat the dish (correctly) before him but decides to go a different route. What ensues is equal parts hilarious and horrifying.
Kanner quickly realizes his mistake though. He then looks to fellow Dota 2 player Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, saying, “What? Did I eat a leaf? I thought it was real!”
Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung, a Malaysian Dota 2 veteran, then apologises for not explaining what the leaves are for.
There’s one thing Kanner did get right. The leaf is indeed real. Poor guy.
Or maybe that’s just how how members of the Illuminati eat nasi lemak bungkus.

How to eat Nasi Lemak?
It’s not 2024 yet but it’s already the funniest thing you will see next year 😭 pic.twitter.com/B82CZ5oZVs
