“KO SRP LEPAS TAK? KO SEKOLAH TAK?”, says DIVA AA aka Azwan Ali as he curses everyone out for everything.

He’ll probably keep quiet for a while because according to The Star, the ex-television host was slapped with an RM17,000 fine by the Sessions Court here today for uploading a YouTube video deemed offensive to frontliners battling the Covid-19 cases.

He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a maximum RM50,000 fine or one year jail or both. The 55-year-old pleaded guilty to uploading the video. Judge Azura Alwi ordered him to serve six months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

On 24 March, the viral video was viewed by Putrajaya Hospital’s deputy director – Datuk Dr Nora’i Mohd Said. She immediately made a police report as it was deemed damaging to the image and credibility of the medical staff in handling the outbreak.

She also said in a statement that the videos caused emotional distress to the frontliners who had to sacrifice their time with family in discharging their duties.

As for the YouTube video, Azwan could be fined an additional RM1,000 for each day the post remained online after the conviction.

At times like this, it’s important for us to be empathetic. Don’t be like Azwan Ali and try to put yourself in their shoes – even though it’s not Louis Vuitton.
