Rami Malek, who blew up for his role as Elliot ALderson in Mr. Robot series has snatched an Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody at the 91st Academy Awards.

Other actors in the list were Christian Bale (Vice), Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Willem Dafoe ( At Eternity’s Gate), Viggo Mortensen (Green Book). Other than an Oscar, he’s already bagged a Golden Globe, Baftas and Screen Actors Guild  for best actor, which means he now needs a trophy display case.

Earlier in the event, Queen took the stage for an opening performance at the 2019 Academy Awards with original members Brian May, Roger Taylor and was joined by Adam Lambert, which had been on tour with the band since 2011. The band also congratulated Malek for his win on Twitter.

As award ceremonies go, Malek gave an acceptance speech which was short and sweet and then… he fell.

Don’t worry, the near-mint Oscar winner is doing well and fine, and possibly enjoying the gold statue he just won. A little fun fact, Malek is just the second actor of Arab descent nominated for an Oscar after Lawrence of Arabia actor Omar Sharif was nominated for Best Supporting Role at the 35th Academy Awards in 1963.
