China Airlines Unveils Pokémon Plane ‘Pikachu Jet CI2’

Taiwan-based China Airlines has just launched flights on its new Pokémon-themed plane, dubbed the ‘Pikachu Jet CI2’.

It’s the second Pokémon plane in its fleet, with the previous one being the Pikachu Jet CI1.

Developed in partnership with The Pokémon Company, the Pikachu Jet CI2 comprises a fully decked out Airbus A350-900 that features 13 different Pokémon on its livery.

It’s a good mix of old and new, including Pikachu, Dragonite, Dratini, Clefairy, Jumpluff, Hoppip, Beautifly, Vivillon, Swablu, Altaria, Skiploom, and Cresselia.

The livery also features cloud and floral tile motifs on the fuselage and near the tail, symbolising traditional decorative Taiwanese tiles, an art that’s deeply rooted in history and culture. The colour palette of these motifs blend smoothly with the China Airlines logo on the tail fin, a plum blossom.

But it’s not just the exterior that gets the Pokémon treatment. Inside, you’ll be able to enjoy themed dining trays, nuts, headrest covers, paper cups, and more.

The Pikachu Jet CI2 was initially assigned to the Taoyuan-Tokyo (Narita) and Taoyuan-Seattle routes at launch, but it’s expanding to other destinations, including Phoenix, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Osaka, and Bangkok.
