Namewee Says He Is Ready For Any Job To Stay Afloat Amid Legal Tiff

Malaysian artist Namewee says his career has come to a standstill while his legal case continues.

He revealed that the investigation is still ongoing and the official report has yet to be released, with a resolution potentially several months away.

As a result, nearly all of his scheduled projects have been cancelled until the end of next year, wiping out most of his planned income.

In an online update, Namewee openly appealed for work. He said he is willing to take on behind-the-scenes roles and is flexible with payment. He also joked that he is prepared to do ordinary jobs, listing everything he can do: fry chicken cutlets, cook fried rice and curry, scrub burnt pots, and even install window grilles.

For tasks he does not yet know, he said he is willing to learn, as long as it provides a source of income.

He shared that his Year of the Dragon Chinese New Year song is complete, but the original sponsor withdrew due to the ongoing situation. Namewee is now seeking a new sponsor, promising that the track contains no vulgarity and comes with a custom advertising jingle.

He claimed it is “better than any previous CNY song” he has produced and offered guarantees: a half refund if the music video does not reach 10 million views, and a full refund if he encounters any trouble before Lunar New Year. He invited potential sponsors to reach out at [email protected].

With court dates still months away, Namewee said he is doing his best to stay afloat and earn an honest living, whether through music, production work, or manual labour.

Namewee was previously arrested around the same time Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh was found dead in a Jalan Conlay hotel last month. Although her case was later reclassified as murder under Section 302, police confirmed that Namewee is not connected to her death.

The 42-year-old was released on police bail on 13 November after investigators found no evidence linking him to Hsieh’s passing. He is, however, facing separate charges for drug use and possession, with the next court mention scheduled for 18 December.
