The body of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin has been released from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital morgue, 25 days after her sudden death at a city hotel sparked a police investigation involving Malaysian rapper and filmmaker Wee Meng Chee, known professionally as Namewee.

A representative believed to be from Hsieh’s family arrived at the morgue at around 8:30 a.m. with several funeral service staff to complete the release procedures.

Two mortuary makeup specialists were also seen entering the facility carrying large makeup cases and smaller kits. They spent about an hour inside and left at 9:45 a.m.

Hsieh’s body was collected at approximately 9:50 a.m. and transported in two luxury Toyota MPVs. The hearse did not display her photograph.

Reports indicate that plans are underway to repatriate her ashes to Taiwan following a scheduled cremation in Shah Alam.

Hsieh, known online as “Nurse Goddess,” was found unconscious in a bathtub at a hotel on Jalan Conlay on 22 October. Namewee told police they had been discussing a video project. He said he tried CPR before calling an ambulance, but she could not be revived.

Police later found about nine blue pills believed to be ecstasy in the hotel room, while initial urine tests showed Namewee tested positive for four types of drugs.

On 24 October, Namewee was charged with drug possession under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and drug use under Section 15(1)(a). He was released on RM4,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on 18 December.

Earlier this month, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Ahmad said Hsieh’s case had been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. He also confirmed that police planned to arrest Namewee.

Namewee surrendered to Brickfields police headquarters on 5 November and was initially remanded for six days. The remand was later extended to 13 November. Fadil confirmed that Namewee has since been granted police bail and must report again to investigators on 26 November.
