‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’ Arc Will Premiere in Cinemas as a Film Trilogy

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba recently premiered the final episode of its penultimate season, the ‘Hashira Training’ arc.

The episode, titled ‘Hashiras, Assemble’, left audiences awe-struck at the deep and intimate storytelling, coupled with the jaw-dropping fight sequences that ensued. It’s a modern masterpiece of cinema, to say the least. It’s also a testament to the technical prowess of the people at Ufotable — the Japanese animation studio behind the anime series.

While people are understandably still reeling from the cliffhanger ending, we can at least look forward to the next and final chapter, fittingly called the ‘Infinity Castle’ arc.

The ‘Infinity Castle’ arc will come exclusively to theatres globally (including Malaysia) as an epic trilogy of films

The three-part theatrical release will be distributed by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment in select Asian territories, including Malaysia. Unfortunately, the release date has not been announced yet.

The final arc will see the series protagonist Kamado Tanjiro, along with the Hashiras and the rest of the Demon Slayer Corps, battle it out one last time with Kibutsuji Muzan, the Demon King.

“Demon Slayer has been a phenomenal franchise, and we at Crunchyroll are delighted to have been a part of it from the beginning,” said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll. “Crunchyroll is thrilled to be able to bring this trilogy of films to fans, on the big screen, and it promises to be one of the truly epic and consequential pop cultural events of our time when it hits theatres.”

Based on the manga series by Koyoharu Gotoge published under SHUEISHA’s Jump Comics, the Demon Slayer franchise has captured the hearts and imagination of millions of fans worldwide since its debut in 2018.

The manga, which consists of 23 volumes and more than 150 million published copies, centres around a boy called Kamado Tanjiro, who decides to join the Demon Slayer Corps after his family is killed by a demon, and his sister is turned into a demon.

The anime first premiered in April 2019, seeing five hugely successful seasons (or arcs) and three films. The first feature film, titled, Mugen Train, currently holds the record as the highest-grossing anime movie of all time and the highest-grossing Japanese film at the global box office, garnering over US$500 million to date.
