DBKL Withdraws Kebun-Kebun Bangsar’s Eviction Notice, To Operate Under Community Garden Project
The two year battle against the eviction of Kebun-Kebun Bangsar is now over! DBKL has revoked their eviction notice to vacate the land.
This started in 2020 when they received their first eviction notice for raring domestic animals from an alleged complain from a neighbour, according to Malay Mail.
The notice stated that Kebun-Kebun Bangsar violated Section 425 (1) of the National Land Code and was notified to demolish all structures to evacuate the land that is owned by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

On June 23 this year, they received another eviction notice from the Department of the Director General of Lands and Mines, stating that the farm had allegedly violated Section 425(1) of the National Land Code.
Kebun-Kebun Bangsar posted the notice on their Instagram page, combined with a tweet from Prime Minister Ismail Sabri. The notice stated that the farm was built below a Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) high-voltage power line without the valid permission of state authorities.
Failure to comply could result in a fine of up to RM500,000 or imprisonment not exceeding five years.

As the caption states, “all within a few weeks.” This is in reference to the Prime Minister’s speech on June 5 for the World Environment Day, praising their farm for being self funded by the community.

Today, a meeting was held between DBKL, representatives from the Land and Mines Office, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Kebun-Kebun Bangsar, and others stakeholders was held to discuss the matter at hand.
“Based on the meeting, Kebun-Kebun Bangsar was notified of DBKL’s decision for it to be streamlined into LA21 as a community farm.
“Activities at the farm will continue to be periodically monitored by DBKL and related agencies,” the group said in a statement.
