M’sian Couple Busted by Cops For Selling Cannabis Cookies & Cakes

Police recently detained a man and a woman who sold cannabis-laced biscuits and cakes during a raid in Petaling Jaya. They were also caught with eight blocks of marijuana that are worth more than MYR200,000.

According to The Star, Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Crime Investigation Department Chief Asst Comm Sahar Abdul Latif said police stopped a car in front of a condominium at Jalan Pudu at about 3.50pm on Tuesday (7 Sept).

“We arrested a 34-year-old man with 25 containers of biscuit and 53 cakes laced with cannabis from the car. The suspect then led police to another condominium in PJ midtown at 6.30pm the same day and we arrested a 28-year-old woman.

“We seized 131 containers of cannabis biscuits, 41 cannabis cakes, eight blocks of cannabis and 31 kilogrammes (kg) of liquid cannabis from the residential unit,” he said when contacted yesterday (9 Sept).

The total drugs seized from both raids were 156 barrels of cannabis biscuits, 94 cannabis cakes, eight blocks of cannabis and 31kg liquid cannabis, ACP Sahar said.

“Initial investigations revealed that both suspects were lovers, who used their homes to produce cannabis biscuits and cakes. The duo would sell biscuits at MYR100 per container and MYR50 per cake. They would sell to close friends via social media and they have been active for about five months,” he said.

The use of cannabis in Malaysia has long been a topic of debate. While Malaysians are still being punished for possession and trafficking be it for recreational or medical purposes, countries that have legalised cannabis are experiencing a boom in edible cannabis with renowned chefs, like Andrea Drummer and Miguel Trinidad, specialising in cannabis-infused meals.
