Actor Ed Asner, Known for His Role in Pixar Film ‘Up’ Passes Away At Age 91
The Pixar film, Up, was notorious for making everyone sob uncontrollably within the first 15 minutes.
The beautiful blossoming and tragic unravelling of the protagonist, Carl’s relationship with his beloved wife was enough to sear the film into almost everyone’s Top 10 sad movie list and it’s all due to the amazing voice work of actor, Ed Asner.
Sadly, the veteran actor has passed away yesterday (29 August) at the age of 91 and those who enjoyed his work are paying their respects on social media.
Asner, who breathed life into legendary roles like Carl Fredricksen (Up), Santa Claus (Elf) and the titular Lou Grant, passed away peacefully according to his family.
“Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head-Goodnight dad. We love you,” his children expressed.
Here are some tweets remembering Asner’s legacy and bubbly personality:
Making my 1st film, Roger & Me, I was broke so I wrote to some famous people to ask for help. Only one responded: Ed Asner. “I don’t know you, kid, but here’s 500 bucks” said the note attached to the check. “Sounds like it’ll be a great film. I was an autoworker once.” R.I.P. My friend Ed Asner was everything I’ve always wanted to be. Actor, author, activist, warm, lovable, gruff, lefty, patriot and a great father. Every member of SAG owes Ed Asner so much. Please keep supporting @EdAsnerCenter pic.twitter.com/gF9pYnvq7P
