World’s First Pair of Shorts Made From Wood is Eco-Friendly, Comfortable & Approved by Climbers

In this era of modernisation, many people are beginning to opt for more environmentally-friendly and sustainable fashion rather than the typical types of materials we usually wear.

It was only last year when two Mexican entrepreneurs found an alternative to luxurious, stylish yet non-eco-friendly leather by sourcing it from cactus instead of animal skin.

Now, it seems like we’re able to don some comfortable and ethical shorts as well after French startup brand, So Ride Wear, invented this bottom wear that is made from wood.

Neither stiff nor sprouting leaves, these Bermudas do not look or feel the way you would assume shorts made out of wood would be. In fact, it’s actually very durable, comfortable and funnily enough, perfect for outdoorsy activities.

The brand states that the fabric is made out of 98% Lenzing Tencel wood fibre fabric – a material selected for its lightness and comfort – and 2% elastane, free from products harmful to the body and the environment.

For the belt and the pocket lining, the brand has opted for upcycled polyester from textile industry offcuts.

Don’t worry about the shorts being rigid and ill-fitting because the brand also assures that it will hug your body whilst remaining malleable so you can move at ease.

Manufactured in Chambéry in Southeastern France, So Ride Wear aims to distribute ethical clothing using bio-sourced and upcycled materials.

As a testament to the shorts’ quality, climbers at the WattaBloc indoor climbing centre in Chambéry have tested and approved the Bermudas for its stretch and comfort.
