Have you ever dreamt of having lions, tigers and gorillas present on your wedding day? Your dream may just come true as Zoo Negara is planning to introduce a wedding package at their premises after Aidilfitri celebrations.

Deputy President of Zoo Negara, Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana said the package is planned to be offered at a reasonable price and will be the latest attraction in the future.

“We have a plan to make this idea (wedding package) a success after Aidilfitri to cover expenses and generate existing income. If we can hold a wedding ceremony at Dewan Kancil, Zoo Negara, maybe we will study the standard operating procedures (SOP) as well as how to let guests in without going through the existing doors.

“At the same time, all guests present will be given a 50% discount on admission tickets to Zoo Negara on the day,” he said during a press conference.

Commenting on Zoo Negara’s latest financial status, Rosly said they were able to earn up to RM11 million this year through various initiatives including fund contributions, animal adoption, visitor entry and the Jom Memancing @ Zoo Negara programme which has been received well.

“When Zoo Negara opened more than a month ago, we received encouraging response, even better than before the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) last year.

“I’d also like to thank all parties for supporting us until we were able to reach RM11 million this year compared to only RM10 million last year.

“All I can say is that our finances are now sufficient to cover costs such as employees’ salaries, medicine and food for the animals, but if the MCO is extended further in five to six months, we may have to appeal for more assistance to survive,” he said.
