Perai fire department operations chief Azrul Khairi Abu Bakar also stated that the fire and explosion had occurred at the smelting section in a 3-storey building, where a 1,000 degrees Celsius furnace was located.
As of now, 30% of the section has been damaged but to find out more information about the explosion, a forensics team will investigate the cause of the incident after the metals have cooled down.
Luckily, the workers had only sustained minor injuries and were sent to the hospital to get treated immediately. The smoke was also so thick that it could be spotted from Penang Island as reported by World of Buzz.
JUICE hopes that the workers will get well soon and a clearer report about the cause of the incident will be released soon.
